New Orleans Motor Company was founded by H. G. Burford and Johannes van Toll in Twickenham, U.K., in 1900, the company was initially called Burford, Van Toll & Co., but changed name to the New Orleans Motor Co. Ltd. in 1901, after the place where it was implanted: Orleans Road.
In 1905 the word 'New' was dropped both from the Company’s name and the brand to avoid any perceived relation with New Orleans in the USA. The Orleans was a modified version of the Belgian Vivinus voiturette car, built under license in England. It is believed however, that because the plant in Twickenham was extremely small, the cars may have been fully imported from Belgium. The company ceased activities in 1910.
