Hotchkiss et Cie was founded by an American industrialist, Benjamin Berkeley Hotchkiss in Saint-Denis, Paris, in 1903. The company produced small and medium passenger cars and sports cars. Hotchkiss merged with Delahaye in 1954 to become Société Hotchkiss-Delahaye. In 1956 the company was purchased by Brandt its name bing changed to Hotchkiss-Brandt. In 1966it was taken over by Thomson-Houston, Passenger car production stopped in 1955. The Company kept in business producing Jeeps, until 1967 and trucks until 1971. Hotchkiss won the Monte Carlo Rally for three consecutive years, 1932, 1933, 1934, and again in 1939, 1949 and 1950.
