The 500 Abarth is a performance model based on the Fiat 500. The 500 Abarth premiered at the Geneva Motor Show 2007 and is, besides the base model, available in a number of special versions. A cabriolet version of the 500, the 500C, was presented at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show.

Engine and Performance

The model is equipped with a 1.4 L engine with IHI RHF3-P turbocharger which has an output of 135 PS (99 kW; 133 hp) at 5500 rpm and 180 N·m (130 lb·ft) (206 N·m (152 lb·ft) in sport mode) torque at 3000 rpm. The engine is matted with a five-speed C510 transmission. The 500 Abarth is also equipped with low ride suspension, dualdrive electric power steering with SPORT setting, 6.5 x 16” aluminium alloy rim with 195/45 R16 tyres, four-wheel disc brakes (front ventilated).

Special Editions

500 Esseesse

The Esseesse is a tuning kit that provides an engine upgrade. In this particular case, the 500 Esseesse is upgraded to 160hp at 5750 rpm and 206Nm of torque at 3000 rpm, in sport mode the torque value is upgraded to 230Nm. This kit also includes drilled and ventilated 284mm x 22mm front brake discs and drilled 240mm x 11mm rear brake discs. Wheels are available in 17-inch white or titanium alloy rims that are used with 205/40 R17 tyres. The cost of the Esseesse kit in the UK is GB£2,500.

500 Opening Edition

The Abarth 500 Opening Edition is a special edition limited to 100 units and specially produced for the italian market and includes the upgrades featured in the 500 Esseesse. This special edition is available in two different colours, campovolo grey or pearlised white, and special stickers are also included.

695 "Tributo Ferrari"

The Abarth 695 "Tributo Ferrari" is a limited edition that was the result of a collaboration with engineers from Ferrari. It uses a 1.4 Turbo J-Jet 16v engine with a power output of 180hp and a manual automated transmission with paddle shifter. This special edition has exclusively 17-inch alloy wheels with performance tyres. Other exclusive features of this limited edition are the "Abarth Corsa by Sabelt" seats in black leather upholstery with carbon fibre shell, black leather steering wheel with red leather inserts and a tricolour hub.
