Josef Ganz (July 1, 1898 - July 26, 1967) was a German-Hungarian car designer, born in Budapest, Hungary. He became a major innovator for the German car industry.

He developed his own prototype, the Ardie-Ganz, in cooperation with motorcycle manufacturer Ardie in 1930. A second model was completed at Adler in May 1931, which was nicknamed the Maikäfer (‘May-Beetle’). These models are said to have inspired the development of the VW Beetle later on.
