The Giulietta Sprint Zagato, or just SZ, was built from 1959 to 1963. Alfa Romeo gave the Carrozzeria Zagato the task of completing a new model based on the floorpan of the Sprint Speciale, or SS. The Carrozeria Zagato turned Giulietta into a high performance car that proved to be great competitor on the tracks. Favored by those starting to race, the Giulietta SZ was actually the car that led many to professional driving. So, despite being a production car, Giulietta SZ turned out to be a very successful version on the tracks with few specifications changes.

The Sprint Zagato was given a 4 cylinder engine with 100 CV. Top speed is 200 km/h.

The Giulietta Sprint Zagato weights 785 kg. The first series of cars were higher and had no Plexiglas covering the headlights. The SZ had several available colors: (metallic) grey, gardenia white, red and several shades of blue - bospherous, cloud, light or Iseo.
Alfa Romeo also produced a coupe version, of which 169 units were made.

The Giulietta Sprint Zagato finished on the 10th overall position at Le Mans edition in 1962. At Targa Florio in 1963, it finished 9th beating a GTO and a Porsche RS.

Alfa Romeo
The Italian automaker Alfa Romeo was founded in 1910, although its roots precede that date. It was actually in 1906, when Milanese aristocrat Cavaliere Ugo Stella and French car manufacturer Alexandre Darracq combined efforts to build an automobile plant, that the Darracq Italiana, former Alfa Romeo company, was established in Naples. Later that year, headquarters of the company were moved to the city of Milan.
