Volkswagen upgraded the Amarok for 2013 with more power and added models. For the new model year, buyers in Europe and Russia are able to buy the double cab version. The tailgate can now hold a 200kg load. The tow rating for all Amaroks is now 3 tons with a manual transmission and 3.2 tons with an automatic transmission.
Volkswagen has also upgraded the biturbo engine from 163ps to 180ps. There is also a BlueMotion version with 90kW or 132kW on manual Amaroks that adds start/stop, regenerative braking and low rolling resistance tires. That version uses 6.8l/100km and 179g/km of CO2.
On the updated cars, the Trendline and Highline trims gets rear parking sensors. There is also a Light and Sound package that adds rain sensing headlights, automatic headlights, puddle lights and self-dimming mirrors. Cornering lights and dual-zone climate control are further options.
