about:
The Vauxhall Ampera is a model name attributed by the British subsidiary of General Motors (GM) to Chevrolet's new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle, Chevrolet Volt. In other markets the model is sold under different names: Chevrolet Volt in the USA and Canada, Opel Ampera in other european countries and Holden Volt in Australia.
According to GM the Ampera can travel 25 to 50 miles (40 to 80km) using only its lithium-ion battery. The car is powered by its electric battery until it is drained and then to extend its range, an electric generator is powered by a gasoline engine.
The model has been in production since December 2010.
