going up for auction at the Silverstone Classic Sale on July 27 for no reserve. The right-hand drive car is expected to sell for between £275,000 and £325,000.
The car has just finished an 18-month restoration by Aston Martin specialists. During the restoration, it was converted to run on unleaded fuel. The restorers also repainted the car in Royal Blue metallic and recovered the leather seats. The bumper, engine bay and wheel arches were all re-chromed. The original engine is installed in the car.
The car was originally ordered in Platinum silver with a black leather interior and delivered in April 1965. Its options included chrome wire wheels, heated rear wing, Motorola radio and power antenna.
The owner clearly loved the car, and it had covered 46,000 miles by 1968. There was a restoration in 1994 that took the car down to bare metal where the car was then painted in blue
The DB5 captured the UK's imagination in 1964 when it appeared in the James Bond film Goldfinger, and the toy car From Corgi was the best-selling toy that year.
