And If These Olympic Athletes Were Cars?

The Olympic Games are about to begin in a couple of days from now and the world's best athletes leave for London to try to lay their hands on one of those mythical gold medals in the lands of Her Majesty. Their every move will be watched by a global audience of fans and admirers that will be rooting for them every moment.

But what if these outstanding athletes were cars? What type of machine would they be? Sports? Or ... convertibles? All-terrain? Aerodynamic? We at Autoviva gave it a thought and found cars that fit these athletes just like a glove.

Explore our comparisons and leave us your own suggestions for these or other Olympians that will compete in London.

Michael Phelps

A sportsman of his format isn't easy to match by a car, so the only truly worthy must come with a profound racing pedigree. Sixteen olympic medals can only be equalled by the SLS AMG GT3.

Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt, world record holder over 100 and 200 meters sprint, finds his coequal machine in the Veyron  Gran Sport Vitesse - the fastest production car around. One reaches a top speed of about 41 km/h while the other hits the red line at 419 km/h.

LeBron James

An American NBA superstar needs an American automotive superstar like the Dodge Challenger to go along. Both like flexing their muscles and deliver a great show.

Nastia Liukin

Small but powerful, that is what unites the Russian gymnast athlete Nastia Liukin and the Abarth 500. When it comes to reaction, flexibility and handling, they are simply unbeatable - and looking good at the same time!

Misty May Treanor

Beach volleyball just screams for a lifestyle-car to match with. And luckily, MINI came up with the Beachcomber that navigates through the sand just as confident as Misty May Treanor does on the sandy court.

Yelena Isinbayeva

Speed, strength and elegance in its purest form, that can describe a Lotus Exige R-GT as much as Yelena Isinbayeva, Russian pole vaulter and twice Olympic gold medalist.

Anna Meares

Speed and handling technique in perfection brings together the Radical SR8 RX purist track car and Australian track cyclist Anna Meares.

Roger Federer

The greatest tennis player of all times is hard to match. We decided for the BMW Z4 GT3, simply because it unites a variety of his characteristics, from extreme performance to classic style.

Kenenisa Bekele

Another sportsman whose performance can only be matched with a car that excels passion for speed. None fits better here than the Caterham 7, once deemed "too fast to race" to go along with the triple Olympic medalist Kenenisa Bekele.

Behdad Salimi

A massive athlete and a massive car, both incredibly strong. The Olympic gold medalist holds the world record lifting 214 kg and the Toyota Hilux, also known as the "indestructible truck" delivers a similarly impressive performance.
