concept car series is a high riding estate and shows the new design language developed by Audi design boss Marc Lichte for future models from the four-ring brand. The new concept is the preview of the next-generation A6 Allroad that will arrive in 2017.

The Prologue Allroad design is based on the Prologue AvantPrologue AvantAudi Prologue AvantGermany, 2015 > 2015, sharing basic body and detailing. But like current Allroad models, the concept gets additional 77mm of ground clearance as well as more rugged looking bumpers with integrated skid plates, aluminium roof rails along with cladding within the wheelarches and along the flanks.

The concept may hint that the fourth-generation of the A6 Allroad will be larger than the current one, as the Prologue Allroad is 5130mm long, 185mm longer.

Inside Audi has created a cabin combining blue and brown leather, perforated seats which mimick the car’s newly shaped single frame grille, dark ash veneer trims and aluminium elements.

Powering the Prologue Allroad will be a new plug-in petrol-electric hybrid system, which is currently being developed at Audi. It combines a  twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 direct injection petrol engine developed in a co-operation between Audi and Porsche and a electric motor mounted within the forward section of the concept car’s eight speed automatic gearbox. Together they produce a 734hp output and 900Nm of torque. The eletric motor is powered by a 14.1 kWh lithium ion battery mounted within the floor of the boot.

According to Audi, the Prologue Avant can therotically reach 100km/h in 3.5 seconds and features an average consumption of 2.4l/100km, with CO2 emissions of 56g/km. The vehicle can also be driven in electric mode with a range of 54km.
