over the next 5 years or so. Rumors continue to come out about future models, and BMW is admitting that the Mini Brand could have as many as 10 models in that time, which are four more than currently. It has also just announced that it will invest £250 million in the Oxford, Swindon and Hams Hall Mini factories through 2015. This is on top of the £500 million invested in Mini in 2011. The extra investment will mean 5,000 new employees for Mini.

“A year ago we announced a further investment of £500m in our UK production network by 2014 and today we are announcing an additional £250m, taking us through to 2015.  This additional investment is great news for all our employees in the UK and shows the BMW Group’s commitment to Britain as a vital manufacturing base for us," said BMW Board Member Harald Krueger.

The added investment will mean not only more capacity for the factory but also the ability to build more model lines. Since 2000, BMW has invested £1.75 billion in Mini.
