BMW M6 Gran Coupe Gets 560hp V8 and Extra CFRP parts

and M6 Convertible. Unlike its siblings, the Gran Coupe will seat four passengers comfortably. BMW also added carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) features that the other cars do not have, for now at least.

The engine is the same 4.4-liter, twin-turbo V8 with stop/start that makes 560hp and 502lb-ft of torque from the M5BMW M5Germany, 2012 > 200028 photos

and M6 with a seven-speed dual clutch transmission and limited-slip differential.

The M6 Gran Coupe will sprint to 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, which is the same as the M6 coupe, and has an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h, but BMW offers the M Driver’s Package that raises the limit to 305km/h. It uses 9.9l/100km (24mpg US or 28.5mpg imp) and emits 232g/km of CO2.

The suspension gets some slight upgrades with forged aluminum wishbones for the front suspension, and the M version of the Dynamic Damper Control. The power steering is hydraulic with BMW’s variable ratio Servotronic system.

The M6 Gran Coupe comes with standard adaptive LED headlights and larger lower intakes to send cool air to the two turbos. The grill is also unique with sets of double slats and the M logo on the upper right. At the sides, there are flared wheel arches, M gills and more aerodynamic mirrors. The windows are surrounded by BMW’s matte black Shadow line trim, and the M6 rides on 20in, double spoke wheels. At the rear, the car has quad exhausts, a lower rear apron and CFRP rear diffuser. CFRP is also used to make the roof.

Inside, the roof is covered in Alcantara to echo the carbon fiber on the roof’s exterior. Merino leather is standard for the seats and front passengers get M sport seats.

Options on the car include carbon-ceramic brakes, four-zone climate control, heated rear seats, heated steering wheel, automatic closing doors, electric sun blinds and Bang & Olufson stereo.

BMW has not revealed how much the M6 Gran Coupe will cost, but it will go on sale next year.
