Cruze Hatchback to premiere in Geneva

Chevrolet has announced that the brand will be presenting a hatchback version of the Cruze that will be going on sale in spring. The world premiere of the Cruze Hatchback has been scheduled for the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.

Adding a new member to the Cruze family is a way of Chevrolet showing the qualities of its model and also its intention of further extending its presence in the mainstream segments of the European market.

Chevrolet has already presented a show car version of the new hatchback at the Paris Motor Show last September, a vehicle that was well received by the automotive community.

According to Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe the new Cruze hatchback will be of critical importance for the brand’s activities in Europe: "Hatchbacks play a critical role in many markets. The total compact segment in Europe represents over a quarter of the total market, with hatchbacks representing around 65% of that volume.”

"The new Cruze hatchback cements that Chevrolet's claim for a place among the mainstream brands in Europe, and it's a vehicle that will bring new levels of value against some of the more established competition," he added.

The hatchback version of the Cruze has a sweeping coupe roofline and short overhangs at both the front and rear, while keeping a look that can easily be recognized with the original sedan.

The new Chevrolet Cruze 5-door hatchback will go on sale across Europe in mid 2011 with prices announced nearer the launch date.
