Dodge has shown-off the new Avenger R/T model at the 2011 New York International Auto Show. Rounding out the Dodge line-up of R/T (Road & Track) performance vehicles, the 2012 Avenger model receives a revised design and stiffened suspension.
Dodge’s engineers have given the R/T’s suspension an 18 percent increase in roll stiffness, a 17 percent front spring rate increase and a 12 percent rear spring rate increase. The rear stabilizer bar’s diameter is 2mm larger, while front strut damping rates are increased by 15 percent and rear by almost 20 percent. Dodge says the tuning results in a ‘spirited, performance sedan driving experience.’
Exterior upgrades for the R/T Avenger include a body-colour grille, ‘menacing’ black headlamp backgrounds, a ‘war paint’ R/T decal on the front quarter panel and 18 inch aluminium wheels. The inside sees the new model receive Aunde fabric, R/T graphic stitching on the front headrests, a centre mounted tachometer, SRT-inspired brake and accelerator pedals and a Boston Acoustic sound system.
The 2012 Avenger R/T retains the same 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine introduced in the 2011 Avenger which produces 283 hp. It is paired with a six-speed automatic transaxle gearbox and offer fuel economy of 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.

It’s a vehicle that is ready to earn its stripes as part of the Dodge performance family of vehicles.”
The 2012 Dodge Avenger R/T will go on sale in dealerships in the third quarter of 2011.
