will be unveiling the new research and development vehicle next weekend at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. The FXX K is based on the LaFerrari and will be travelling around many worldwide circuits. The name K is a reference to the KERS energy recovery system.

Without having to worry about any type of homologation, since it will never be used in competition, the FXX K is designed to take to the limit technological innovations. This vehicle will be used by an exclusive group of customers with whom Ferrari will develop the test program over the next two years.

The FXX K is equipped with a hybrid system that combines a 6.3 liter V12 860hp engine and a 190hp electric motor. Thanks to this association the vehicle has a combined output of 1050hp and torque of 900Nm.

The combustion engine of the FXX K features new camshafts and a modified valve train with mechanical rather than hydraulic tappets. The intake manifolds have been redesigned and given a special type of polishing treatment. The exhaust system has been modified as its silencers have been eliminated.

The HY-KERS system has evolved into a technology that lets you choose between four different modes on the center console: Qualify for maximum performance, Long Run to optimize consistency, Boost Manual for imediate maximum torque and Fast Charge for quick charging of the battery.

In order to achieve maximum efficiency the vehicle has undergone various changes in the body that include passive and active aerodynamic elements.

In front of the car can find a dual spoiler profile and a higher splitter, which is placed 30 mm lower, with a space in the middle. This design is an application of concepts designed to improve aerodynamic balance in the GT class of the WEC. Several vertical elements channel air into the car's flanks and generate a longitudinal vortex that creates a localized depression. This in turn draws the flow of the wheels to the outside of the aerodynamic underbody. Along with the side skirts that extend out from the sills, the vortex helps isolate the airflow from the underbody to boost its efficiency.

and comprises a mobile spoiler that also makes the vehicle 60mm longer when fully expanded. A vertical fin and a small wing each side of the tail act as guide vanes in the low drag configuration and boost the spoiler’s efficiency in the high downforce one. The section of the flat underbody just ahead of the rear wheels is also exploited to the full to generate downforce thanks to the reduced pressure in the wheel arch guaranteed by the direct connection to the rear of the car by a by-pass duct.

The result is a 50% improvement in downforce in the low drag configuration and a 30% improvement in the more aggressive downforce configuration.

The FXX K receives Pirelli tires equipped with sensors that monitor the longitudinal, lateral and radial acceleration as well as the temperature and pressure. This allows a more complete analysis of tire interaction with the track surface.
