Ford Exporting SUVs to China to Meet Demand

to China by 40,000 vehicles a year. The first shipments of the American and Canadian built cars are starting in the next few weeks.

Ford has only sold 16,405 cars in China in the first nine months of the year, but it expects that sales will grow quickly.

“As part of our plan to offer a full family of SUVs to Chinese consumers, we began importing the Ford Explorer from the U.S. to China this year. Explorer joins our locally produced EcoSportFord EcoSportUnited Kingdom, 2012 > 20126 photos

Despite the high auto import tariffs in China, the market continues to grow. Ford says that until it can keep up with demand with local production, it will continue to export cars there.
