coupe. This year, it has gone a bit farther back into its history to the 1940 Ford. Interested buyers will be able to order one for prices starting at $11,900. All of the necessary trim peices are also available.

These bodies are made from modern, high strength steel made from modern welding techniques. If buyers already have a 40 Ford and just need specific body parts, Ford will also sell those as well. It is also offering the bodies either with a standard or recessed firewall depending on if the buyer wants to add a larger engine than will fit.

"The 1940 Ford is a bodystyle and design that represents Ford at its best. The 1940 Ford Coupe has always been highly sought after and collectible. Unfortunately, good, solid restorable examples have become hard to find and expensive, so this faithful reproduction is bound to prove popular," said Dennis Mondrach, Ford Restoration Parts licensing manager.

The 1940 Ford ranks just below the '32 Ford in terms of popularity with hot rodders. The '40 Ford was cheap and plentiful following World War 2, and it allowed teenagers and GIs the chance to have blank canvas to build a fast car. They were one of the few cars in its price range to offer a V8 from the factory from new, and the Ford flat head V8 was one of the most popular engines among hot rodders for decades. They were popular for stock car racing and drag racing
