The qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix has been postoned until Sunday due to the heavy rain that was falling in Suzuka on Saturday morning.
With the storms over the track intensifying over the day, it wasn't safe to let any Formula One car to get out on the track.
The qualifying was delayed several times hoping for the heavy rain to stop, before FIA definitely postoned it to Sunday morning, at 3:18pm local time.
A new inspection of the track will take place tomorrow morning at 9:30am, with qualifying set to start at 10:00am, just five hours before the start of the race.
The last time a qualifying session was postponed in Japan was in 2004.
Qualifying for the 2004 event also took place on 9 October, and it was Michael Schumacher who secured pole position on Sunday.
