"We have had a very solid month of testing and learned a lot about the performance potential of the new Hyundai i20 WRC in a range of conditions. As with any inaugural testing, there have been some teething issues to overcome but this is precisely the purpose of testing and we have taken time to analyze and understand the problems," said Hyundai Motorsport Team Principal Michel Nandan.

Hyundai's WRC team is headquartered in Germany, and the latest tests were structured to assess the car's transmission and suspension in conditions similar to what is found in actual rallies.

"It is very much an evolution of the car we used in previous tarmac tests,” said Nandan.

The team only has about six months to get the car ready for its competition debut at the Rally Monte Carlo in January 2013. Nandan says that the team believes the car is on target and will be ready to race.
