Italdesign has revealed the first images of the first model to be launched by Italdesign Automobili Speciali. The supercar, whose name is yet to be revealed, will be revealed at next month's Geneva Motor Show. Only five units of the model will be produced.
The starting price of the
first Italdesign Automobili Speciali V10 supercar will be €1.5 million but the price should rise close to €2.3 million as bespoke options are added by customers. The model has been created aiming at “collectors and visionary enthusiasts” and the first unit should be delivered by the end of the year.
Starting in 2017,
Italdesign's supercar project chief and head of innovation design, Filippo Perini, says that
Italdesign Automobili Speciali will be launching a new car bearing its own badge. All of them will have a very limited and exclusive number of examples.
Italdesign Supercar gets same engine as the Audi R8
The
first model coming out of
Italdesign Automobili Speciali will be powered by the same 5.2-litre V10 engine feautred in the top-end versions of the
Audi R8. The supercar also gets
Audi's quattro permanent four-wheel drive system. According to Italdesign the model will reach an estimated top speed of 330km/h and sprint from 0 to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
Aerodynamics and lightweight construction
"The exterior is characterised by the two sides of the same medal," said Filippo Perini, "above the tornado line, outlines are distinctly softer and smoother in keeping with the Italian Gran Turismo tradition. The lower part is modelled from aerodynamics. To achieve the performances we had in mind, we had to dare beyond all limits from styling and even purely technical points of view. The outcome ensures extremely high impact without ever being design for design's sake”.
Italdesign engineers have tried to create a
supercar with “racing car performance” but that can be driven in normal roads. Aerodynamics and lightweight construction are the foundations of the new model. It features a prominent front splitter, louvres over the wheel arches, side-mounted fins, a racing-style rear spoiler and a large under-body diffuser.
Created on a modular chassis in carbonfibre and aluminium the body panels have been entirely made of carbonfibre. The
Italdesign supercar is expected to have a lower kerb weight than the other V10 supercar models of the
Volkswagen Group, the
R8 and the
Lamborghini Aventador.
Name yet to be revealed

exclusive supercar is yet to be announced. It should be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show.
