Prince Albert II of Monaco is getting a lavish gift from Lexus for his wedding to Olympic swimmer Charlene Wittstock on July 2. The luxury car maker has modified a LS 600h L with a landaulet top for the newlyweds to take their tour of the principality.
The car's conversion was done in cooperation between Lexus and Belgian coach builder Carat Duchatelet. The conversion took over 2000 hours.
To maintain the car's rigidity after the removal of the roof and pillars, Lexus created parts out of Kevlar and carbon fiber and added them to the chassis.
The removable roof is made from a single piece of polycarbonate weighing only 26kg.
Lexus is proud that the vehicle will run almost entirely in EV mode for the couples' tour around Monaco.
