owner, DRB-HICOM's managing director Mohd Khamil Bin Jamil says that Lotus sold 70 car for all of 2012, but this year is doing much better. For May, Lotus moved 80 cars. Jamil says Lotus has completed its restructuring and is ready to really start selling cars again.

He also said that Lotus will have a new model variant ready for next month.

"It's not going to sell by volumes but it is a big step," said Jamil about the new model.

Over the next three years, Lotus will revamp most of its lineup, but money is still tight. It will still be awhile before Lotus has a truly new car. The revamped cars will have better technology and better performance, but they will still be based on the current model range.

"We are coming out with the variants based on existing products - variants with improved technology, improved performance, improved quality as well as improved costing."

"Up to May, we achieved encouraging sales of 80 Lotus cars, which is more than the 70 units for the whole of last year," he said.
