Mercedes-Benz concept to celebrate 60 years of Unimog

With 60 years having past since Mercedes-Benz started making the iconic Unimog, they have celebrated this occasion by creating a spectacular design concept and presented it at the Mercedes-Benz Customer Centre at their plant in Worth.

Like the original Unimog, this concept uses an open cab. Inspiration from a poison dart frog led to the bright green color, and comparisons can be made between this vehicle and the amphibians in terms of their abilities to traverse through mud and water. This concept is based on the Unimog U 5000 chassis and shows off the outstanding off road capabilities combined with futuristic styling ideas. "We have taken the Unimog-DNA with its unique concept features to 100 percent into consideration when creating this design concept," says Bertrand Janssen from the Daimler department for commercial vehicle design.

This imposing beast has all the character to be used in a Transformers movie, or it could be seen as a reincarnation of the Incredible Hulk. Either way it’s sure to spark interest for both young and old.
