The Paceman shares a platform with the Countryman crossover but removes two doors for a more stylish look. The shared platform also makes it easy to share the all-wheel drive system between the models. 

The ALL4 system uses an electromagnetic center differential that during normal driving can send up to 50% of the power to the rear. When traction is lost, 100% of the power can be sent to the axle with traction. The system is integrated with the Dynamic Stability Control system. When it detects a loss of traction, it sends the power where it is needed. All all-wheel drive Minis also come with traction control that can lock the front axle is extremely low traction situations.
