has announced that some of the top modern Mercedes drivers will join Michael Schumacher on his lap of the Nürburgring Nordschleife combined course in a Mercedes W02Mercedes-Benz W02Germany, 2011 > 20119 photos

F1 car prior to the 24-hour race on May 19. The drivers will be piloting a selection of modern AMG models. The cars will all line up at the starting line and be let off in a staggered order so that they all cross the finish line at the same time.
The drivers of the other cars will include Formula 1 safety car driver Bernd Mayländer, former Formula 1 driver Karl Wendlinger, DTM great Bernd Schneider and current Mercedes Formula 1 driver Nico Rosberg.
“It will be interesting to see how long Michael can delay starting before catching up with us at the finish," said Rosberg.

The drivers will cover the entire 20.832km combined course that covers both the Grand Prix track and Nordschleife. Schumacher will be the first person to drive a Mercedes F1 car around the track since Juan Manuel Fangio in 1954.
Driving around the Nordschleife in a Formula 1 car will be an unforgettable experience both for me and for the motor racing fans. The legendary Nordschleife, famous throughout the world, is the perfect place for this demo, and the Mercedes-Benz vehicles taking part are all fascinating, powerful cars, a unique parade for all the spectators and car enthusiasts gathered there as they hurtle past," said Schumacher.
