Mopar SEMA Display Highlighted by 800hp, 8.4 liter V10 Crate Engine

Mopar is what Chrysler calls the part of the company that makes the parts for its vehicles. It does not just produce normal parts though, part of Mopar is also dedicated to producing performance parts for Chryslers. This year at the Sema show Mopar is showing off a new 512 CID (8.4 liter), 800hp V10, a new all aluminum Hemi V8 crate engine, a 150hp upgrade kit for the Viper and in a move that is pure insanity a kit to convert its Hemi V8s to front wheel drive.

Meant for drag racers, Chrysler's new biggest crate engine is the 512 CID (8.4 liter), 800hp V10 based on the engine in the Viper. It is hand assembled and all aluminum with a very high for its size 7,000rpm redline. The engine produces 695lb.-ft of torque. Chrysler is promising future versions of this engine for off-road applications and road racing.

Mopar is also making an upgrade kit for the third-generation Viper that adds 150hp. The kit adds aluminum cylinder heads, a custom upper intake manifold with a larger throttle body, fuel rails and injectors and reflashed ECU.

The other new Mopar crate engine is the 426 CID (7 liter) Hemi V8. It is all aluminum with 590hp and street legal. It is tuned to run on 93 octane pump gas. Mopar is also offering an optional Ready-to-Run kit with this engine that adds a throttle body, engine harness and engine controller with base calibration.

In the what-would-this-ever-be-used-for category. Mopar is producing a kit to make its third generation Hemi V8s, like the one above, convert to front-wheel drive. This just seems like sheer insanity.

Finally for racing teams, Mopar is offering a body-in-white Dodge Challenger next year. The car is just a body complete with doors, decklid and hood. It does not come with a vehicle identification number so it is not street legal.

All of these new parts will be available in Mopar's catalog at Mopar.com over the coming weeks.

Maybe Dodge will base the new Viper's engine off of this one.
