that might have been a development car for its Formula 1 engine. Now, new evidence indicates that the test car may actually be Ferrari's test for an LMP1 prototype.
The original video that we posted was shot at Ferrari's Fiorano test track, but the latest images come from Mugello. It shows that Ferrari is at least somewhat serious about the mystery car's development.
The video at the time showed a disguised Laferrari with a large air scoop over the top. From the sound of the car, it was abundantly clear that the car was running some type of forced induction.
Both Ferrari's President and head of non-F1 motorsports have hinted that an LMP1 Ferrari could be in the works. The new rules in the WEC would allow Ferrari to use a modified version of its Formula One engine in the car.
During Ferrari's holiday banquet, President Luca di Montezemolo said: "We have won with the 458 GTEFerrari 458 Italia GTCItaly, 2011 > present5 photos

, but I also quite like the idea of racing at Le Mans in the highest category: who knows, maybe one day we can return and win, say thanks and come home. Maybe we should give it some serious consideration."
Antonello Coletta, head of non-F1 motorsport, said: "We cannot say Ferrari will be in LMP1, but we can also not say that Ferrari will not be in LMP1. We can also not say if our vision is for 2015, 2016 or beyond."
To be clear, the body of the test car would not be approiate for WEC racing, but it is possible that the engine and chassis underneath are.
