NAIAS has been chosen as the stage of the world premiere of the second generation
A4 Allroad quattro from
Audi. The sales of the all-terrain station wagon of the German brand should start in mid-2016.
The model features the usual design elements of the Allroad family including the salient bumpers with prominent shields both at the front and rear of the vehicle. Moreover, the vertical blades on the grill, additional protection in the wheel arches, the larger sills and roof rails are also included as standard.
In terms of size the A4 Allroad quattro is 4750mm long, 1842mm wide and 1493mm high, which makes it 19mm longer, 2mm wider and 1mm lower than its predecessor. The wheelbase increased by 13mm to a total of 2818mm. Despite being larger than the previous generation, some versions of the new A4 Allroad quattro weigh up to 90kg less than its direct predecessors. The new suspension and new shock absorbers increased ground clearance by 23mm.
The range of the Audi A4 Allroad quattro will include TFSI and TDI engines with outputs ranging between 150 and 272hp. Compared to the previous generation this means an increase of 27hp, which comes with a reduction in CO2 emissions of 21g/km.
Customers can choose, depending on the engine, between a manual six-speed gearbox, a seven-speed automatic dual-clutch S-tronic or an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Besides the quattro all-wheel drive system which is part of the whole Allroad range, Audi has introduced an updated start-stop system that disengages the engine when the driver slows down below 6km/h.
