is adding a new $60 million engine plant to its Brazilian factory campus in 2014 that will be able to build 200,000 engines a year and employ 200 people.
The factory will be built in a converted building at Nissan’s Vehicle Plant in Resende, Brazil.
The new engine factory will build Nissan’s 1.6-liter, four-cylinder flexfuel engine that produces 111hp and 110lb-ft when fueled by ethanol. The engines will exclusively be used in Nissan’s Brazilian-market versions of the MarchNissan March Gen.3Japan, 2003 > present and VersaNissan VersaJapan, 2006 > 201216 versions

"The Engine Plant in Resende is an important pillar to strengthen our presence in Brazil, and further proof of our confidence in the potential of the Brazilian market,” said Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn.
Nissan has a goal of taking 5% of the Brazilian market by 2016.
