as a four-door sedan, five-door notchback and Sports Tourer at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs from September 12-22. The top model in the Opel lineup gets all-new styling inside and outside and a range of engines going from 99g/km of CO2 emissions with 120hp all the way up to 247hp.

“Our flagship is now more sophisticated and eye-catching – but even in midst of all this elegance, don’t forget what it’s all about: to offer drivers and passengers a comfortable and safe driving experience with state-of-the-art technologies at a really attractive price," said Opel CEO Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann.

At launch there will be gasoline, diesel and LPG fuel options.

There are two tunes of the new 2.0-liter diesel with either 118hp or 138hp both with a six-speed manual and start/stop that emit 99g/km of CO2. They are both rated at 3.7l/100km for the sedan or 3.9l/100km for the Sports Tourer.

The other diesel option is the 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel with 192hp and 295lb-ft of torque.

The base engine is the 1.4 gasoline turbo with 138hp with stop/start.

The gasoline engines include the 2.0 SIDI Turbo with 247hp and 295lb-ft of torque and the 1.6 SIDI Turbo with 168hp and 192lb-ft of torque. They come with either a six-speed manual with start/stop or a six-speed automatic, and the 2.0-liter SIDI Turbo is available with all-wheel drive.

The 1.4 LPG engine has 138hp and 148lb-ft of torque.

The new design evolves the look of the previous version with a sleeker look. It still has the low and wide front intake for the chrome grill. It has been widened and lowered even further than before. The headlights get black trim with chrome accents and higher trim models get LED running lights and bi-xenon headlights. The fog lights are set low in the front bumper with chrome accents around them.

From the profile, the Insignia stays mostly the same with the L-shaped crease along the side, but there are big changes in the rear. The roofline gets a more coupe-like line and is blended more sleekly into the rear. The rear of the car is wider and lower than the previous gen and has a wide chrome strip that cuts into the LED taillights

Opel says that it focused on making the interior more intuitive for the new. There are fewer buttons for operating the infotainment system, and the other controls have been simplified. The infotainment system is now displayed on an 8in screen that controls the radio, smartphone and navigation. It is controlled by a touch panel near the gearshift with haptic feedback. It also accepts voice commands. For improved style, it gets piano black and chrome trim.

Prices for the cars will start at €24,325, which includes German VAT.
