At this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hours race Peugeot will be racing two Peugeot RCZs. The endurance race will mark the launch of its limited edition coupé, the Peugeot RCZ, and the Marque's 200th anniversary, celebrated on the 15th and 16th May, the same weekend when the race takes place.
This will be the first time that Peugeot will be competing in the very popular German 24 hour race that draws the attention of 220,000 spectators every year. Racing in Germany will give Peugeot the chance to promote the new coupe on a market that is very fond of sporty cars.
In the Nordschleife circuit Peugeot will be racing two 2.0 l HDi FAP RCZ cars, each developing 147 Kw (≈ 200 h.p. DIN), in the D1T category, Diesel between 1700 and 2000 cc. Some specific parts of the standard RCZ have been modified with the help of the Peugeot Sport "client motor racing" range.
To symbolize the 200 years of the brand the two RCZs will display the numbers 200 and 201. A French team and a German team will be behind the wheel the two RCZs in the endurance race.
Each team is composed of four "gentleman drivers", enlightened motor racing enthusiasts, experienced drivers and fans of the Marque, including Jean-Philippe Peugeot, Vice-president of the PSA Group's Supervisory Board, Stéphane Caillet, ground link technician, Cyrus Ayari, sales executive, and Olivier Perez, Peugeot marketing executive.
