The refreshed Polo will use VW’s latest EA211 engine family. These new aluminum engines can be installed in smaller spaces than the previous EA111 engines and are lighter.

The refreshed Polo is not expected to be on the market for long. A new Polo riding on the short wheelbase version of the MQB platform is expected to go on sale in 2015.
