Jaguar Considering Limited Number of C-X75 Turbine Cars

Here is an interesting factoid. Bladon Jets has just opened an engineering center in Coventry, England, which just so happens to be the same location as Jaguar's engineering and manufacturing centers. Also, Tata Ltd who owns Jaguar has a minority stake in Bladon.

There is a rumor that Jaguar will make a limited number C-X75 supercars with Bladon's turbines. The small turbines, which are about the width of a pencil, are designed to work as a generator for an electric motor. It does away with the delay in power usually found in turbines. The turbine spins constantly at its optimum speed. According to Bladon its system does not need water-cooling, oil or catalytic converters and weighs 15% less than a conventional internal combustion engine.

The rumored turbine-powered C-X75 would use four turbines to give it acceleration to 100km/h around 3.4 seconds but just 28g/km of CO2 emissions

The C-X75 probably will not be on the road until 2015. However the possibility of two of Tata's companies working together to create a revolutionary supercar is fun to imagine.

That would be great, I just hope Jaguar won't deceive people as with the XK220.
