Sebastian Vettel to go on winning championships

Mario Theissen, the man who brought Vettel to the grand prix racing has indicated that the German may go on and win many more World titles in the Formula One.

Back in 2006 Mario Theissen, BMW motorsport director, signed up Vettel as a test driver for the then BMW Sauber F1 team and saw him score points on his debut at the 2007 United States Grand Prix. Now he says he is proud of the first world title captured in Abu Dhabi by the young German driver.

"He did a fantastic job, especially in the final four races when the pressure was mounting," told Thiessen to Autosport about Vettel’s world title.

Thiessen admires the way Vettel stayed cool when things weren’t going his way and how he managed to make a flawless final run as the youngest amongst the four or five title contenders.

Thiessen adds “He is a top driver, one of the top drivers in Formula 1 already at 23. If it all goes well, he has another 15 years in Formula 1, so there are quite some championships he can win if the car is right.”

Not having the space to offer Vettel a spot as a full-time driver at BMW Sauber, Thiessen agreed to release the German to Red Bull. Vettel then made his debut to the F1 on-board a Toro Rosso, which handed him a spot for the second half of the 2007 season.

After clinching Toro Rosso's first GP at Monza in 2008, Vettel switched to Red Bull Racing the following year and won his first world title this year after winning the final round of this season's championship in Abu Dhabi.
