Second generation Touareg presented

Volkswagen has presented the second generation of the Touareg. The next generation of the German brand SUV will also be available in a hybrid version, becoming the first and only off-roader in Europe by a German car maker.

There are three main features in the new generation of the Touareg. The first is the 208 kilograms of lost weight compared to its predecessor. But, nevertheless, it has more five percent of torsion rigidity in its body.

Other main change in the SUV of the VW brand is the improvement in aerodynamics. The new Touareg is built lower to the ground and it has a small frontal area with a style based on the new Volkswagen design DNA and VW’s designers and engineers managed to reduce its Cd (coefficient drag).

The final feature is the standard offer in all engines of an 8-speed automatic transmission, which, according to Volkswagen, produces significant fuel economy advantages.

As for the powertrain, the new generation of the Touareg will be equipped by two diesel engines and will also have a hybrid version. All versions of the SUV wil be equipped with all-wheel-drive.

The second generation of the Volkswagen Touareg should be on sale in April.
