headquarters of Stuttgart. The service will include 300 electric Smart Fortwos and 500 charging points provided by the local energy company. Unlike other cities with Car2Go, all of the cars in Stuttgart will be electric.

The service offers people a car sharing service for €0.29 per minutes. When parked, the rental costs €0.09 a minute. Drivers can rent the car for an hour for €12.90 or a day for €39. Prior registration at Car2Go or a Europcar rental agency is necessary before renting a car.

Drivers reserve a car either with a smartphone or the Internet and can see where the nearest cars are located. There is a 75km² area around Stuttgart where the cars may be driven, and when drivers are done they can leave it anywhere within that area. Car2Go is already planning to broaden its service area next year.

The charging stations can be used by any compatible electric car, but the Car2Go vehicles use them for free.

Car2Go estimates that it has 250,000 registered users worldwide, and it plans to grow to 50 cities by 2015. The company is jointly owned by DaimlerDaimlerDaimlerGermany, 1889 > present12 models
