TDI BlueMotion in the past, but it is finally revealing the car’s full technical specs. When it goes on sale, it will be the cleanest Golf ever with 3.2l/100km fuel economy and 85g/km of CO2 emissions. With its 50l fuel tank, the TDI BlueMotion has a 1,500km (932.1 miles) range.

The heart of the TDI BlueMotion is its direct-injected 1.6-liter diesel engine with 109hp and 184lb-ft of torque and standard start/stop. Acceleration to 100km/h takes 10.5 seconds, and it has a top speed of 200km/h.

The engine features lower internal friction, shorter warm-up phase and two-stage oil pump

The six-speed manual transmission has special, wide-spaced gears to improve economy, and the BlueMotion TDI comes standard with low rolling resistance tires.

To become so efficient, VW made significant changes to the aerodynamics and were able to reduce the coefficient of drag to 0.27. The car sits 15mm lower and includes a special roof spoiler, mostly closed radiator grill, optimized cooling airflow and special underfloor panels to direct the air around the car. It also weighs 49kg (108lb) less than the previous Golf TDI BlueMotionGolf 2.0I TDI DPF BlueMotion Confortline DSGVolkswagen Golf 2.0I TDI ...Germany, 2009 > present1 photo

The TDI BlueMotion comes in new trim levels – Trendline and Comfortline. The basic Trandline comes with 15in wheels, a chrome strip under the headlights, black air intakes, a 5in touchscreen, electronic differential, air conditioning and more.

The Comfortline adds parking assist, drawers under the front seats, upgraded Composition Touch radio, leather-covered steering wheel and gearshift 16in wheels and improved interior fabric.

The TDI BlueMotion goes on sale in Germany in July for €22,175.
