racecar. It still makes 400hp, but it does it in the body of a tiny three-door hatchback. Toyota will also show a concept for a future fuel cell vehicle at the show.

The Yaris Hybrid R is meant to show the possibility for future hybrids that show that they can provide as high performance as internal combustion engines. The Yaris three-door gets a 1.6-liter Global Race Engine and an electric motor mounted at the front and rear to provide all-wheel drive. It uses the TS030’s super capacitor-based braking energy regeneration system.

It will also show a concept for a future hydrogen fuel cell hybrid vehicle that Toyota intends to put in production in 2015.

Toyota’s display at Frankfurt will be dedicated to hybrid and zero emission vehicles. It currently has 23 hybrid models on sale in 80 countries and has sold a cumulative 5.5 million hybrid vehicles to make it the market leader. Toyota plans to launch 16 new or updated hybrids by the end of 2015.
