NASCAR. The Camry that will begin racing next season was designed by Calty, Toyota's California design studio, who tried to make the Nascar look as much like the seventh generation Camry as possible.

The front grill, side character lines and rear bumper are meant to look like the 2013 Camry.

“Our 2013 Camry looks more like the production vehicle than ever before, and we hope this helps revitalize the long-standing relationship between fans and manufacturers in NASCAR," said Ed Laukes, Toyota head for marketing communications and motorsports.

The new Camry NASCAR will race for the first time at the Speedweek at Daytona International Raceway in February.

After years of complaints, NASCAR is attempting to make its race cars look more like production vehicles. NASCAR relies on a template for the body that manufacturers can modify but only very slightly. In the past this has meant all of the cars look exactly the same with decals to appear like the production cars. Now, NASCAR is giving manufacturers a little more leeway with modifying the basic design. Some parts of the design are still not allowed to be modified like anything that would change the car's aerodynamics dramatically.

Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda even got the opportunity to drive the new car with NASCAR driver Kurt Busch sitting next to him.
