Vettel breaks record with pole in Brazil

In another dominating qualifying, Sebastian Vettel has grabbed a record-breaking 15th pole position of the season. At the Interlagos Circuit in Brazil, Vettle was yet again the emperor.

Vettel was the fastest driver in Q2 and then completely dominated the last part of the qualifying. On the first lap of Q3 he topped the standings with 1m12.268s but he then improved with his time, finishing qualifying with the time of 1m11.918s.

Mark Webber won the battle against the McLaren’s which puts both Red Bulls on the front line for tomorrow’s race. Button was the quickest on Q1 and finally ended his role of disappointing qualifying in Brazil. He looked close to grab a seat on lane 1 but Webber came through on his last attempt with a 1m12.099s lap. Lewis Hamilton was down in fourth place.

Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa were fifth and seventh in Brazil and were split by Nico Rosberg. As for his team-mate, Schumacher reached the Q3 but opted not to run any lap on the final part of the session.

Force India’s Adrian Sutil was the ninth fastest driver of the day ahead of surprising Bruno Senna, who in front of his home crowd gave Renualt a very rare spot in top 10 in qualifying.

In what may be his last start of the career, Rubens Barrichello will depart in his Williams from 12th position, behind Pauld di Resta. Completely opposed to his team-mate’s result, Renault’s Vitaly Petrov only managed to be the 16th quickest of the day.

The Toro Rosso’s will start from line seven, while the Saubers closed the Q2 pack. Pastor Maldonado failed to follow his team-mate example and failed to make it to Q2, with a gap of half a second to Barrichello.
