In a world with a lot of bad news, this story is positive for just about everyone. Chrysler's Connor Avenue Assembly Plant had been idle since 2010 when it stopped producing the Dodge Viper, but Chrysler will be hiring about 150 to reopen the factory to build the new, fifth generation Viper.
“The next generation Viper will make its return to the product lineup in late 2012 as a 2013 model,” said Ralph Gilles, President and Chief Executive Officer - SRT Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC.
Employees are already at the factory being trained to build the new Viper. All of the Vipers in the world were built at the Connor Avenue Plant with about 12 cars a day leaving the plant.
Not a lot is known about the new, fifth generation Viper, but it will probably be revealed at the New York Auto Show in April.
