has a massive display ready for Frankfurt, and it is especially touting its cleanest models. It will add two more electric cars in Frankfurt – the e-GolfVolkswagen e-GolfGermany, 2014 > present and e-UpVolkswagen e-up!Germany, 2013 > present7 photos
.
Both cars come luxury features like automatic climate control, navigation, heated windshield, and LED running lights. According to Volkswagen, given current costs of electricity in Germany each charge of the e-Golf costs €3.30 and each charge of the e-Up costs €3.02. Both cars can be charged to 80% in about half an hour in the fastest charging mode.
The e-Golf offers a 190km total range from a 24.2kWh battery and standard LED headlights. Its electric motor provides 114hp and 199lb-ft of torque. Power goes to the front wheels, and it takes 10.4 seconds to reach 100km/h. It has an electronically limited top speed of 140km/h.
The e-Up is even more efficient. Its electric motor produces 81hp and 155lb-ft of torque. It takes 12.4 seconds to reach 100km/h and has a top speed of 130km/h. Its total range is 160km from a 18.7kWh battery.
Both cars use a single-speed transmission with four levels of energy recuperation and two drive modes, which affect throttle response.
With 80% of Germans driving less than 50km a day, Volkswagen believes that either car could be a good fit for many buyers.
