Volkswagen Cars Sales Up Over 5% for May and the Year

Passenger Cars sold 503,100 cars in May, a 5.5% increase, and it has sold 2.41 million cars from January to May, up 5.3%.

Volkswagen Cars delivered 1.07 million cars in the Asian region for the period from January to May, up 17.6%. Of those, 980,000 went to China, up 19.6%. Sales in India fell 14.6% to 31,100 cars. 

Sales in Europe are down 7.3% so far this year for Volkswagen Cars to 688,900 cars. German sales for the year so far are down 10.4%. Even Central and Eastern European sales are down 0.2%. 

Volkswagen Cars sold 303,100 cars in South America from January to May, a 2.9% decline. Brazil took 227,100 of those cars, down 2.1%. 

It delivered 252,700 cars in North America, up 4.4%. Of those, 169,800 went to the United States, a 0.4% reduction compared to last year. 

Clearly, China is supporting Volkswagen Cars at the moment. Not only is it responsible for nearly as many sales as Europe and South America combined, it is experiencing double-digit growth.
