in the United States.
The Jetta GLI has always been the sibling of the GTI. The two cars already share a platform, and in GLI form, they also share engines. The Jetta GLI gives North American buyers who prefer to have a trunk over a hatchback, a sporty option of the their own.
For the GLI Edition 30, the mechanical bits are the same as the current GLI with a 2.0-liter TSI engine, six-speed manual or dual-clutch automatic, a sport suspension, 18in wheels, upgraded brakes, a more aggressive body kit with red trim and trunk lid spoiler, and an interior with sport seats and aluminum pedals. It also gets Edition 30 badging.
The interior gets leatherette seats with red accents and red stitching on the steering wheel, gearshift, brake level, floor mats and arm rests. It also has fake carbon fiber trim and Edition 30 doorsill plates.
The only available option is whether or not to order a navigation system, which is also packaged with bi-xenon headlights push-button start, rearview camera and LED running lights.
It can be ordered in Deep Black Metallic, Pure White, Tornado Red, and Reflex Silver Metallic exterior colors.
Volkswagen will not announce the pricing until closer to launch in 2014.
