Volvo is trying to make it strongly into the executive sedan market with the launch of the new
S90. The Swedish brand famous for its SUVs and vans is willing thereby to compete directly with the German power in this market segment. Together with the S90, Volvo will also be launching the V90 estate. The world premiere will take place in Detroit, the 2016 edition of NAIAS.
Following the same line of innovation launched with the
XC90, Volvo offers with the new S90 a number of new technologies including high-tech security services and applications based on cloud technology.
One of these cutting-edge technologies is an advanced system of semi-autonomous driving: Pilot Assist. Thanks to this system the S90 helps the drivercar aligned between motorway road markings at speeds up to 130km/h without following another car. The autonomous driving is indeed one of the priorities in terms of technological development at Volvo.
The new S90 will also be equipped with the hybrid plug-in engine T8 Twin Engine, as well as one of the most luxurious interiors and one of the most connective infotainment systems of the executive sedan segment.
Another novelty of the S90 will be the City Safety system, a technology able to detect large animals such as elk, deer or horses, during night or day. In addition to issuing an intuitive warning sound, it offers braking support to prevent collision.
The world premiere of the S90 will take place in January in Detroit at NAIAS, the North American International Auto Show.
