this engine will have an average consumption of 4.1l/100km and produce 94g/km CO2. In addition this will also be the first gasoline engine to receive the BlueMotion badge.

The 60hp 1.2 three-cylinder engine will now be available with the stop/start and regenerative braking systems which allowed the decrease consumption from 5.5 to 4.6l/100km and emissions from 128 to 106g/km CO2 . The same engine now gets a 75hp version. Above there will be two turbocharged three-cylinder 1.2 TSI engines with 90 and 110hp.

The 1.4 liter four-cylinder engine with cylinder deactivation technology in the Polo Blue GT has also been updated and will now have 150hp, 10hp more than before. The engine power of the range topping Polo GTI has also been updated and is now 192hp.

The revamped version of the Polo brings three new 1.4 diesel three-cylinder to the model's range, with 75, 90 and 105hp. The first two versions will be immediately available at launch, while the 105hp version will be released later.

The 74hp engine will be used in the TDI BlueMotion version that, according to VW, is smoother and more flexible than the engines that preceded it. This version has a torque of 210nm at 1500rpm and improves standing start and in-gear acceleration. Consumption was reduced to 3.2l/100km and emissions to 82g/km of CO2.

However, the greatest reduction in consumption came with the 90hp TDI with DSG transmission. This version has reduced consumption from 4.3l/100km to 3.4l/100km. Emissions were reduced from 112 to 89g/km of CO2.

Depending on the engine the new Polo will be available with manual gearboxes of five and six-speed or an dual-clutch seven-speed automatic transmission.

New Design

In terms of design the Polo received a new front bumper that added more structure and includes larger air intakes. In addition the grid has also been redesigned and its horizontal design was thought to give the car a greater sense of width.

The headlamps retain the same design but the main beams are now offered in LED with upper trim versions of the model, giving the Polo a new night-time optic.

Behind the bumper has also been redesigned and now has a slightly larger area for the registration plate. Furthermore, the lamps have also been redesigned and received new graphic display.

Like it happened with the Golf, Volkswagen wanted to improve the perceived quality inside the Polo through a new three-spoke steering wheel, a new design of instruments and a new center console with new controls for air-conditioning and a choice between 5 or 6 inches touchscreen display. In addition it will be available optional infotainment system and a rear camera to assist in parking.

The new Polo also receives the latest assistance systems and safety of Volkswagen, including post collision braking system, fatigue monitoring system, adaptive cruise control, radar controlled distance control and city emergency braking function.

Prices of the new Polo are yet to be revealed.
