Want to own a modern Le Mans car and have between €1.5 million and €1.8 million burning a hole in your pocket? Then do I have a car for you. R&M Auctions will have a 2007 Peugeot 908 V12 HDi FAP on the auction block on Saturday, May 12, at its auction in Monaco. It estimates that the car will sell between €1.5 million and €1.8 million.
The car in question is chassis number 02 and raced in 2007, 2008 and 2009. It won in its inaugural race at Monza in 2007 with drivers Marc Gené and Nicola Minassian, and won again that year at Silverstone and Interlagos with the same drivers. It also won at Catalunya and Spa in 2008 with Gené and Minassian, and it won as Spa again in 2009 with Minassian, Simon Pagenaud and Christian Klien driving.
It was entered into the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans where it placed third in qualifying and sixth in the race.
It is the first 908 to be offered for sale to the public. Peugeot will also provide technical support for the car for the next three years for a fee, and these services inlcude, "specific equipment, third-party software licences and skills."
The 908 is powered by a 100° diesel, 5.5l V12 with twin, Garrett turbochargers. Power output is around 700hp and 1200Nm of torque
