Webber disappoints Horner

Red Bull Racing chief Christian Horner says that he is disappointed with Mark Webber, as the Aussie hided from his team the injury he picked up before the Japanese Grand Prix.

News emerged this week stating that Webber had published in his book ‘Mark Webber: Up Front’ that he had run the last for races of the season with a fractured shoulder.

In the book Webber revealed that he made the injury after crashing into a friend as they went out cycling on the Saturday prior to the Suzuka event. That was the first time Webber got back on a mountain bike, after breaking a leg in Tasmania at the end of 2008.

Webber kept his shoulder injury secret from his team and had to use pain-killing injections in order to race. The Aussie didn’t even inform Red Bull of the fracture after the end of the season.

Although Horner doesn’t think the injury led Webber to under perform in the last four races of the season, Red Bull’s boss is far from being impressed with the Australian’s behavior.

"I didn't even know about the book, let alone the shoulder," Horner was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph. "It is obviously disappointing that Mark said nothing. It was an injury that did not appear to have any effect on his performance but all the same it would have been nice to know about it."

Horner also suggested that after a second accident Webber should keep away from mountain biking while he is still racing.

"Our drivers have an obligation to make sure they are fit," he said. "It seems bikes don't agree with Mark so maybe it would be better if he stayed away from them."
