The Norisring race is often especially heavy in crashes because there is little runoff

It is an astoundingly light weekend for motor racing this weekend. There are big races from the DTM and NASCAR and smaller races from the IndyCar Series and MotoGP; and that is all in terms of major racing series.

The IndyCar Series has a street race in Toronto, Canada, and MotoGP has the German Grand Prix from the Sachsenring.

DTM

The German Touring Car Series heads to the Norisring for an 83-lap race around the 2.3km-long, eight-corner street course in Nuremburg, Germany.

Qualifying begins at 2:40pm local time (12:40pm GMT) on Saturday, July 13, and the race starts at 3:00pm local time (1:00pm GMT) on Sunday.

There is currently a tie in the DTM Drivers' Championship between Mike Rockenfeller and Bruno Spengler who both have 59 points. Gary Paffett is in third place with 47 points.
