What Car Sounds Best Among EVO's Car of the Year Candidates

The UK's Evo Magazine has just published its 2011 Car of the Year nominees

We know there is a very small elite who could ever drive all of these cars. But anyone can look at them, and thanks to Youtube anyone can listen to them. Since we know that our readers will probably never drive these 11 cars in a lifetime, we have collected videos that best show what each of these cars sound like.

Take a look at the pictures, listen to their wonderful automotive sounds and tell us what you think sounds best.

1. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage S. The Vantage S is meant to be an even harder V8 Vantage thanks to a stiffer suspension and an extra 10hp, up to 430hp, from its 4.7l V8 engine.

2. The BMW 1-series M Coupe. The 1M takes the standard 1-series flares the fenders and powers up the engine.

3. The BMW M5. The new M5 with its twin-turbocharged V8, 4.4 liter V8 that produces 560hp is an absolute rocket ship.

4. The Ferrari FF. Its a bit of an odd duck. Who would have thought that Ferrari would ever make a station wagon, even a two-door one. I guess this is the ultimate family hauler.

5. Lotus Elise CR. First, I was not able to find a video of the Elise CR with good audio. The one in the video is the supercharged SC model. The CR is meant to be the club racer-spec Elise that is ready for the track.

6. McLaren MP4-12C. McClaren came back this year, and its car was polarizing. Some people think the MP4-12C is a little too technologically advanced. We'll have to see what Evo thinks.

7. Porsche 911 GT3 RS 4.0. The new GT3 RS 4.0 has to be one of the best 911s of all time. For the first time in a road car, Porsche has punched its iconic flat six out to four liters of displacemnt.

8. Porsche Cayman R. The Cayman R gets a small power bump, but it has been stripped down to be even faster than the Cayman S.

9. Renaultsport Megane 265 Trophy. This car currently holds the lap record for a front-wheel drive vehicle on the Nuerburgring. It is a seriously hot hatch.

10. Jaguar XKR-S. Jaguar has not made a car like this in a while, but the XKR-S with its big V8 is a top performer.

11. Lamborghini Aventador. The new Lamborghini with its outer space styling and video game instrument cluster is a supercar that can make anyone smile.

If you have a favorite or even a least favorite, post your thoughts in the comments and let us know which car sounds the best.

I really like the M5, the Aventador and the McLaren. I wish those cars were in my Garage right now...

Purely on sound, I agree with the Aventador. The XKR-S would be my second pick. If you offered all the keys to me, I think I would want to drive either the Porsche RS 4.0 or McLaren first.
